TAYLOR'S TOP PICKS: Spring Transition

It's that time of year again when I realize that black and grey clothing has consumed my wardrobe for the past several months and that my black jeans I've been wearing all winter are now more of a washed grey/purple color now...woops. I'm not quite ready to trade in my black, grey, and neutral palette for a fresh springy one - my skin hasn't seen the sun since August and sorry, but 40-50 degrees isn't THAT warm!

Your typical thought when someone says "spring wardrobe" probably involves happy looking pastels, floral prints and dresses. I'm about to be real here and say I'm not trying to wear any of that. Definitely need some new pieces in my life though, so here are my top picks that we currently have in-store for easing into spring:

The look of an oversized tee, but stays tucked in? All about it. Graphics are an easy way to create an effortless look, but can always be dressed up or down depending on accessories, shoes and jacket choice.

How I am using this bodysuit as a transitional wardrobe piece:

NOW: Layer with leather jacket and wear with jeans and ankle boots. To give it a bit of spring freshness, choose a tan or white jacket rather than black (See Marni Moto Jacket below)

LATER: Layer with denim jacket or with no jacket. Pair with sneakers or slides

If you knew and loved the Tracy Jacket, this one is similar if not an upgrade! It's a pretty normal length rather than a super cropped jacket and has minimal hardware making it less aggressive than some moto's we've stocked in the past. It is vegan leather with great quality & price point, and also comes in a really nice shade of mauve if you're feeling you need a subtle pop of color (click here to see it!).

How to style this jacket as a transitional piece:

NOW: Yes it is an alabaster white, but has a slight undertone of pink and definitely appropriate to start wearing now. Pair it with a long sleeve fitted tee (stick with neutrals and light grey) and really any jeans or pant.

LATER: Pair it with crop tops, ripped jeans, dresses and two piece sets for some added edge.

One and done - this ultra cozy jumpsuit is about to be a closet staple heading into spring. It's made out of a comfortable bubble gauze fabric that may seem beachy, but add some gold layered jewelry and it gives it a new vibe. I'm 5'5 and the length was perfect. It can easily be rolled up at the bottom if you have shorter legs too!

Styling this jumpsuit as a transitional piece:

NOW: The jumpsuit can be styled with sock boots or ankle booties. Add a cropped jacket and you're good to go.

LATER: Roll up the sleeves a little and pair with a sandal, wedge, flat or slide. Grab a white oversized denim jacket in case it gets too chilly.

Ok it's black, but it can easily be worn any time of the year, meaning it makes a good transitional top. It's a lightweight woven, so lighter and airier than our knits we've been layering up all winter long.

How to style this top and take it into spring:

NOW: High rise dark jeans, boots and add a coat big enough to fit these bell sleeves. If it's warm *enough* throw a leather jacket over your shoulders (but don't try and shove these sleeves in there!)

LATER: Pair with light wash distressed denim, layered jewelry and open toed booties.

Of course these are just a FEW items that will be great additions to my pre-spring wardrobe. Hope this gives you a bit of inspo as you shop for some fresh new styles. See you in-store soon
